The Princely States and the Making of Modern India

History being a chronological narrative of past events is an asset to the geographical space where the events take place and also to all those who relate to that geographical space. The historians who document these events and research them become the masons of history. They leave behind an edifice for the future generations to dwell on. D S Achuta Rao is one such historian to have dedicated his time for the documentation and research of history of Mysore and its rulers and events. MUP and Achuta Rao Endowment recognize the need to make such documentations available to generations present and future, and therefore has initiated this DSA History Series.
The Achuta Rao Endowment has come forward to partly fund the books in this series and deserves the credit for working towards this noble cause. MUP acknowledges the support extended by the Endowment and Mr D A Prasanna in particular for this effort.
