ತಾಳೆಗರಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ‘ಕರ್ಣಾಟಕ ಭಾಗವತ’ದ ಬರವಣಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ಗ್ರಂಥರೂಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊರತರುವ ‘ಕಲ್ಪನೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಅದರ ಪೂರ್ವ-ವೃತ್ತಾಂತ ಹೀಗಿದೆ. ಚಿತ್ರದುರ್ಗ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ, ಹೊಳಲ್ಕೆರೆ ಗ್ರಾಮದ ತಮ್ಮ ಪುರಾತನ ಕಾಲದ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ‘ನಿತ್ಯಾತ್ಮ ಶುಕಯೋಗಿ’, ವಿರಚಿತ ಕನ್ನಡ ಭಾಗವತ ಮಹಾಕಾವ್ಯವನ್ನು ಅವರ ವಂಶದ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರಾದ ‘ಶ್ರೀ ರಾಮಣ್ಣಯ್ಯವರು’ ೧೭೫೫ ರಲ್ಲಿ ತಾಳೆಗರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆದ್ದರು. ಈ ಬೃಹತ್ಗ್ರಂಥದ ಇರುವಿಕೆಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆಯೂ, ಚಂದ್ರಶೇಖರ್, ಅವರಿಗೆ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ ಗೊತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ೧೯೯೧ ರಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂರ್ತರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಸಮ್ಮೆಳನದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಲು ಭಾರತಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಾಗ, ಇವುಗಳ ಇರುವಿಕೆಯ ಅರಿವಾಯಿತು. ನಮ್ಮ ಭಾರತದೇಶದ ಪುರಾತನ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯ ಕುರುಹಾಗಿ ಗ್ರಂಥವನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದೊಡನೆಯೇ, ಅದನ್ನು ಪರಿಷ್ಕರಿಸಿ ನವೀನ ರೀತಿಯ ಮುದ್ರಣದಲ್ಲಿ ತರುವ ಉತ್ಕಟವಾದ ಆಕಾಂಕ್ಷೆಗಳು ಬಂದವು. ೨೩೨ ತಾಳೆಗರಿಗಳ ಚಿಕ್ಕ ಅಕ್ಷರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆದ ಸುಮಾರು ೧೨,೦೦೦, ಭಾಮಿನಿ ಷಟ್ಪದಿಯ ಪದ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಪರಿಷರಿಸುವ ಕಾರ್ಯ ೧೯೯೨ ರಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಗಿ ೨೦೦೮ ಸಂಪನ್ನವಾಯಿತು. ಸುಮಾರು ೫೦೦ ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ರಚಿಸಿದ ತಾಳೆಗರಿ ಗ್ರಂಥಗಳಿಂದ ಉಳಿದು ಬಂದ ಈ ಮಹಾಕಾವ್ಯವನ್ನು ೨ ಸಂಪುಟಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಪಾದಿಸಿ, ಕನ್ನಡದ ಓದುಗರಿಗೆ ಅರ್ಪಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. -

ಒಂದು ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಸದಸ್ಯತ್ವವನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯಲು, ಒಂದು ಶಾಲೆಯನ್ನು ಸೇರಲು , ಗಳಿಸಲು ಒಂದು ನೌಕರಿಯನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯಲು . ಅವುಗಳಿಗೆ ತಕ್ಕ ಅರ್ಹತೆಯನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯಬೇಕು. ಹಾಗೆ ಅರ್ಹತೆ ಇದೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುವ ಪ್ರವೇಶ ಪತ್ರವನ್ನು ತುಂಬಿ ಕೊಡಬೇಕು. ಅಗಾ ಸದಸ್ಯತ್ವ ಕೊಡಬೇಕೆ ಬೇಡವೇ ? ಶಾಲೆಗೆ ಸೆರಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕೆ ಬೇಡವೇ ? ನೌಕರಿಗೆ ಅರ್ಹನೆ ಎಂದು ವಿಚಾರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅಂಥದ್ದರಲ್ಲಿ ಭೂಮಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಹುಟ್ಟಿ ಬಂಡ ಮೇಲೆ, ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಬದುಕಲು ಅರ್ಹತೆಯನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯಲು ಪ್ರವೇಶಪತ್ರ ಬೇಡವೇ ? -
